i really liked this episode. i was especially looking forward to it cause of brad dourif. i liked him in the x files and in the exorcist iii, so i was super excited to see how he played a character in star trek. and obviously ive seen him in lord of the rings too. i really like suder, i love his character. i love the idea of an evil betazoid, especially because the ones we usually see are friendly, sensitive and calm. he is none of those! i love that. i also loved the exploring of tuvok's character in this. i really liked tuvok and suder's dynamic. it was just a very haunting and intriguing episode.

this ones okay. its a be'lanna character exploration first and foremost. i dont hate be'lanna and shes a pretty cool character, shes just a little boring and so this episode felt very laid back and chill, haha. it was very tense around the end and i love that dreadnought had be'lanna's voice. it made it a lot more, poetic i guess. dreadnought's computer in general was a very interesting aspect of this episode

ive seen this episode before 2 times already last year, but i decided to rewatch it anyways just cause i love q, and i love quinn! q is my favorite star trek character of all time, i really really adore him. unfortunately, voyager's writers really did not know how to write him. throughout his episodes in this series he is misogynistic and way too horny for janeway. hes very out of character due to these things, and i also think that the Q continuum lore exhibited in the episodes after this one is just bogus. a lot of the q content in voyager i dont personally accept as canon. but death wish, aside from q's occassional odd remarks, is Really good content for the continuum in my opinion. its still vague enough to keep the continuum mysterious and interesting, but still gives enough perspective into them. and of course, i LOVE quinn. hes my favorite not-our-q q. hes so cute! and of course hes played by gerrit graham, who also played beef in phantom of the paradise (one of my favorite movies of all time!) gerrit graham was an amazing casting for a Q, he plays the part perfectly. its just sad he dies in the same episode he appears in...

listen. i love emh. i really really do. but i...admit im a bit against him being in any romantic relationships. so weird romance with emh just feels very ehhhh with me every time they do it and well this whole fucking episode focuses on it. im very glad that emh was still attracted to pel even when she went back into her ill body, but man. i just do not care about romance. i literally close my eyes when theres a kissing scene in anything it just skeeves me out and makes me cringe. i dont like kissing scenes it grosses me out i hate the noises. sorry but yeah i hate romance plots haha

i LOVED this episode. i really enjoy michael mckean's work as an actor and ive seen him in a LOT of stuff completely on accident, so finding out he was in this was quite the thrill. i really liked his role as the clown and how he represented fear. he was a perfect casting, in my opinion. the set design of this episode was also completely spectacular. im very partial to clown aesthetics and colorful vibes of the like, i love the movie killer klowns from outerspace so im sure you can figure out why i love this episode so much. this episode is also an amazing look into the doctor's character, and as we've previously established, i LOVE him. im truly infatuated with him and his role in this episode was AMAZING!!! completely thrilling and entertaining. i just really really liked this episode. it was so so awesome. every part of it!

this episode is also very infamous within the voy fanbase. ive heard a lot about it and i honestly expected this episode to just feel silly and funny. but honestly, it just felt cruel and oddly sad. i did like the episode, but it just felt very...bizarre and sad. its definitely up there with the weird moral scenarios star trek likes to come up with. i wanted neelix and tuvok to come back just as much as the rest of them, but seeing tuvix beg for his life was just. horribly depressing. like, god, why would you put a viewer through that?

s3e1 basics pt 2 8/10so much choice lonnie and doc action!!! i love them together in this episode a LOT, theyre the best part of this episode. it broke my heart completely in pieces when lon died. i really really wanted to see him again...nonetheless, im glad seska is finally dead because i do NOT like her whatsoever. to be honest, i dont have much input on the rest of this episode. i just like it for lonnie and the doc lol

2 points taken off because evil doctor shouldve been written better. i really liked the concept of evil doctor and i was VERY intrigued by the events of this episode, but the evil doctor being weirdly sexual and stroking b'elannas legs and her face and touching kes's face weirdly and shit and being flirty was just fucking unessecary. i HATE male villains that touch women and kiss them nonconsensually its uncomforting and as someone who is literally in love with the doctor, its not something i particularly want to see my favorite character do! evil or not! evil doctor is an awesome concept, but hes not good if hes just touching women and being a creep. its disappointing that star trek has been writing these kinds of male villains since the 60s. rick berman just makes it all the more dumb, hes such a creep. on a sidenote, im genuinely so so heart broken that kes and neelix are officially broken up. i thought they were such an adorable and healthy relationship one of the very few straight star trek relationships i genuinely loved. i dont want to see them apart :( and i also hope they dont try to push more romance btwn kes and emh, especially bcs emh is literally the physical visage of a 40+ year old man and it'd jsut be creepy. heres hoping for the best

i liked this episode! i was stressing out about it bcs i love the doctor and i love seven but imagining them being romantical kind of scared me. its not as horrid as some other pairing couldve been, like kes and the doctor, but its still not like something im completely on board with. idk! they are very cute! me and the autistic bitch i pulled by being autistic. ect. the doctor's singing voice is literally so sexy and so so beautiful and hearing him sing at the end made my heart melt and explode. though this episode made me realize an annoying truth about media, no one ever wants to exhibit female crushes. its always men crushing on women. its sooo dumb i just get tired of it. male writers always write men having crushes as like "oh woe is me" its soooo EYE ROLL INDUCING like god. i love the doctor but imagining the dumbass male star trek writers puppetting him to exhibit their annoying ideals about sex and relationships makes me want to kill people. also the ambassador being drunk was funny as HELL! also also i think seven of nine reacting negatively to the doctor and tom's bet was out of character. i dont think she wouldve cared. idk maybe its a sign of her growth but i kjust dont feel like she'd give a fuck regardless lol

get ready for this one, its gonna be looong alright i have some scathing opinions about this episode, so much so that im writing this review before i even review the episodes that come before it. this episode starts out really really fun, but near the end it just becomes a frustrating mischaracterization of the doctor. this episode refuses to acknowledge how badly the voyager crew treats the doctor and instead depicts the doctor's feelings of being mistreated as misguided and selfish. janeway tells the doctor that "theres a lot of people that care about you on this ship" and "you disappointed a lot of the people who care about you" as if to say the doctor is just swimming in best friends, when no one on the ship gives a hell about him or his well being. its literally been shown several times that they literally would not give half a rats ass if the doctor's holo emitter broke or if he got disabled on an away mission or deleted. they literally never care about the risks that come to him. up until now i havent really been bothered by this only because i expect it, the doctor is treated more like comic relief than anything and i was just ready to accept that about him early on. but in this episode they seem to act as if the doctor was always appreciated and loved and had friends, which literally has never been true. the only person on voyager that gave a fuck about him and his well being was kes and shes not here anymore. seven may care about him but she doesnt show it just the same as the rest of the crew. everyone on this ship acts like hes a fucking nuisance and i just put up with it because i assumed it was for the joke! earlier on in the episode while the doctor is in engineering planning his show on the planet, belanna is CONSTANTLY antagonizing him completely without provocation. like unwarranted! he didnt even say anything rude to her! she was just fucking being an ass to him for no reason! and then when he snaps back with ONE innocent remark, she flips it back on him later on in the episode and then its depicted as like some epic gotcha at the big bad mean doctor. OHHH MY GOD SHE WAS LITERALLY BEING MEAN TO HIM FIRST??? its like this episode completely ignores the fact that nobody has ever gave a shit about the doctor this entire series. you cant just write a character like this and then switch up 6 seasons into the series on him like this. its so fucking frustrating. i love all of the doctor's scenes in this episode and i still liked this episode, but im so so frustrated at how his relationship with the crew is depicted. i hate how janeway scolded him and treated him. i hate that even the alien race who seemed to be interested in him also didnt like him for who he was in the end. no one in this fucking show will ever appreciate him for who he is and it really really makes me miss kes, dearly. i dont think the doctor wouldve even thought of leaving voyager if kes was still here. they had such a close relationship and when she got booted off the show they didnt even try giving him a replacement. what he and seven has isnt even close. on another note, the opera dubbing in this was so awkward and dumb. i dont get it??? they show him singing with his actual voice in an early episode in like, season 2. i guess these were more intense vocals but they still sounded dumb LOL. also i feel like the doctor wsa considerably out of character in a lot of parts of this episode. in general this episode is just a mess, a catastrophe for his character. im disappointed :( and i think its really dumb he fell in love with that tincoo lady. just stop man. i know this entire wall of text is basically negative but im still giving this a high rating because i still enjoyed watching it, i love the doctor THAT much. but i just...hate how even the writers of this show dont understand him.

okay...endgame...here we are...its been a long time comin'. i wrote down some notes for this episode so i didnt get sidetracked.
first things first, chakotay and seven is ridiculous. it felt so out of place and so weird and gross. i hated it! completely didnt care for it whatsoever. chakotay and seven had barely any relevant canon interactions before this, them being forced together so last minute was just...absurd. not a fan. also, the starfleet uniforms from the old janeway future were ugly as hell! what were they thinking designing those ugly things.
also reg is here!!!! i noticed that in the future he becomes much more confident, and less awkward. no more stuttering! the doctor even points that out in the episode by saying he hadnt heard him stammer in years. so cute!!! im so proud of reg and happy that they showed us a little bit of his development. also, at the reunion party, the doctor's wife suspiciously looked like seven...side eye....that poor man. LOL
i feel really bad for doomed timeline janeway :( her seeing chakotay and tuvok again in the main timeline made my heart explode. speaking of tuvok!!! oh my god!!!!! im glad he was able to recover from that condition. poor guy i love him. i do think its weird though that they showed him going on about janeway's disappearance and then they just. didnt do anything with it. i guess it lead to the doctor asking barclay so maybe it did help but like why did he...know. anyways
chakotay is fucking dead LOL fail. also neelix playing kadis kot with seven over subspace was SOOO adorbs. also sidenote why dont we get to see what happens to icheb in the alpha quadrant. i wanted to see what happens to everyone in the alpha quadrant in general...like damn they couldve at least spared a 5 minute montage!!!!!! ugh. it ends so abruptly!!! also tom was bald fail. ALSO miral seemed nice. anywyas i thought the ending was perfect in a lot of ways, it was very satisfying especially with janeway destroying the borg like that, it was so fucking awesome. but the ending felt a little underwhelming too, they just kind of...appeared there. and then it ended. come on let us see more!!! GRRR. also harry crying made me bawl my fucking eyes out, oh my gosh. reg looked so happy to see voyager home!!! he looked like he was gonna start crying himself!!! also i hope they talked to neelix when they got back...okay i think those were generally all my thoughts. the doctor was great obviously. harry and tom were sweet they make me want to cry. ill miss this crew. im so sad..

here we are. the home stretch. literally! im finished watching voyager. i started this show on march 30th and now its the 22nd of may....it took me nearly two months! im gonna miss this crew so, so much. voyager is not better than tng, definitely not ds9. it definitely falls short...! but it has amazing episodes and some great characters nonetheless. the doctor quickly became possibly my most adored star trek character to date, i dont think ive felt more passionate about anyone else in star trek. i truly, truly adore him. i think hes one of the best and cleverly written star trek characters in the franchise, and i wish they did more with him. i also really loved tuvok and neelix, both separately and together! i wish they had more focus. and tom and harry were great, but i wish they had more time together on screen like obrien and bashir from ds9. like i said, voyager falls short in a lot of places. but that doesnt mean its bad or i didnt enjoy my time watching it. i loved every second of it. well okay most of the seconds. this is a good show! if you found yourself falling completely in love with the casts of the first three shows, id definitely recommend voyager. ill miss the time i spent with you, voyager! till next time!last updated: 5/23/2023 6:18 PM
